NuWater BNR Series

NuWater BNR Wastewater Treatment System

Advanced aerobic treatment by Enviro-Flo, Inc. — NSF/ANSI certified, Class 1 effluent quality for residential and commercial properties.

ANSI/NSF Certified

The Environmentally Friendly Alternative for Wastewater Treatment

The NuWater BNR is a single-tank aerobic treatment system that uses the extended aeration activated sludge process to treat domestic wastewater. It consistently meets or exceeds Washington State's discharge standards, producing effluent that is clear, odorless, and low in nutrients.

Available in 500 and 600 GPD capacities for Washington State, the system is constructed in concrete or polyethylene and is approved for both residential and commercial use. It has been independently tested and certified to ANSI/NSF Standards 40 and 245.

How the NuWater BNR Works

Three integrated compartments work together to produce high-quality treated effluent through a continuous biological process.

1

Pre-Treatment Chamber

Large solids are separated from incoming wastewater. Re-circulated water from the clarifier returns here to continue the nutrient (nitrate) reduction process.

2

Aeration Chamber

Air is pumped in through low-pressure diffusers creating microscopic bubbles. This promotes the growth of aerobic microbes that break down organic solids in the wastewater.

3

Clarifier Chamber

Calm conditions allow solids to settle and separate. Treated water is discharged; settled microbes and solids are recirculated back to the aeration chamber for further treatment.

NuWater BNR FAQs

What is the NuWater BNR system?

The NuWater BNR is an advanced aerobic wastewater treatment system by Enviro-Flo, Inc. It uses extended aeration and activated sludge to treat household wastewater to a Class 1 standard — producing clear, odorless, low-nutrient effluent.

How does the treatment process work?

Wastewater flows through three chambers: pre-treatment (solids separation & de-nitrification), aeration (aerobic microbe digestion), and clarification (solids settle, treated water is discharged, microbes are recirculated). The result is clean effluent meeting state discharge standards.

Why does a NuWater system require maintenance?

Washington State requires ongoing maintenance contracts for all advanced treatment systems. The aerator runs 24/7, and components like filters, diffusers, and alarms must be inspected regularly to ensure proper treatment and regulatory compliance.

What routine maintenance does the NuWater BNR need?

Every service visit includes cleaning the aerator filter, testing alarms, checking diffusers and air lines, measuring sludge levels, and inspecting effluent quality. Blackwater Services handles all of this as your certified maintenance provider.

What should NOT go into a NuWater system?

Avoid strong disinfectants/bleach, oils and grease, water softener discharge, disposable wipes/diapers, and high-phosphate detergents. These can harm the microbial population and reduce treatment effectiveness.

Does Blackwater service NuWater BNR systems?

Yes. Blackwater Services is an authorized NuWater maintenance provider serving Snohomish, Skagit, Island, and King Counties. We handle inspections, repairs, aerator service, and all required compliance reporting.
