Norweco Singulair® & AT 1500 UV Disinfection
America's most trusted aerobic treatment system — with the industry's leading UV disinfection technology. Certified, reliable, and serviced by Blackwater.
The Safe, Effective, and Reliable Way to Disinfect Wastewater
Norweco's AT 1500 Ultraviolet Disinfection System is your complete solution for meeting the most stringent environmental permit requirements. It reduces bacteria levels from secondary effluent to achieve strict water quality standards — with no chemical residual or harmful by-products.
UV disinfection is routinely used in ecologically sensitive areas where chemical disinfection residuals could harm the receiving environment. The AT 1500 renders harmful pathogens — including those resistant to chemical disinfection — completely harmless. It is the only UV treatment system listed by Underwriters Laboratories for residential disinfection applications.

AT 1500 System Components
Every component is highly engineered to provide reliable disinfection and superior operational life.
Interlock Switch
A power interlock switch automatically de-energizes the system during service for safe maintenance.
UV Bulb
Heavy duty, long-life bulb tested and certified to provide superior bacteria kill — providing 99.9% bacteria reduction rates for complete disinfection.
Quartz Sleeve
The long-life bulb is encased within a transparent optical-grade fused silica quartz sleeve for easy cleaning and superior UV transmittance.
Dual-Pass Design
An anodized aluminum frame creates a dual-pass flow path, doubling exposure to UV light and greatly improving treatment quality.
NEMA 6 Electrical Enclosure
Compact, watertight, weatherproof enclosure for all power lines. Ballast is protected inside. Green light constantly lit to indicate proper operation.
Solid State Circuit Board
A corrosion-resistant solid state board with current sensing circuit continuously monitors UV bulb performance and provides constant assurance of proper operation.
ABS Disinfection Chamber
Compact, integrally molded ABS chamber that is carbon-impregnated for maximum durability and UV-light resistance.
Simplified Wiring
A single incoming power cable is all that is required. Pre-wired NEMA 6P plug-and-play power cable assembly — no electrician needed.

(425) 777-4545Norweco FAQs
What is the Norweco Singulair® system?
The Norweco Singulair® is one of America's most trusted aerobic treatment units (ATUs), known for robust construction, reliable performance, and consistent effluent quality. It has been in service since 1906 and is installed worldwide.
What is the AT 1500 UV Disinfection System?
The AT 1500 is Norweco's ultraviolet disinfection unit that follows the Singulair® aerobic treatment unit. It reduces bacteria levels from secondary effluent to meet strict water quality standards — with no chemical residual or harmful by-products. It is the only UV treatment system listed by Underwriters Laboratories for residential disinfection.
How does UV disinfection differ from chlorine?
UV disinfection uses ultraviolet light to render pathogens harmless without adding any chemicals to the water. It leaves no chemical residual, produces no harmful by-products, and is effective against pathogens that are resistant to chemical disinfection. It is ideal for ecologically sensitive areas.
How often does my Norweco system need service?
Norweco systems typically require service every 4 months per Washington State regulation, including aerator checks, chlorine refill or UV inspection, and effluent quality testing. Blackwater Services handles all of this under a maintenance contract.
What happens if the aerator or UV system fails?
If the aerator fails your alarm will sound. The AT 1500 has a self-diagnostic current sensing circuit that provides immediate notification if UV system operation is interrupted. Call us right away — operating without a working aerator or disinfection system can violate state permits.
Can Blackwater install a new Norweco system?
Yes. We are a certified Norweco dealer and can handle the full design, permit, and installation process from start to finish — including Singulair® ATU and AT 1500 UV disinfection.
